G'day fellas, A couple of mates are riding over to NSW to do some shearing and then riding back via the Great ocean road. I can't do the whole trip but plan on meeting them in Anglesea or there abouts. Just putting it out there for suggestions from you blokes for some good riding routes and reasonable places to stay enroute. The rough plan heading east for me to get there is, from Pt Augusta- Mildura-Ouyen-Horsham-Dunkfeild-Anglesea, meet the boys and then do the GOR to Portland but from then on i'm a bit stumped. Do we follow the coast or go through the Grampians or ?. We plan to get the ferry from Wallaroo across Spencer gulf then down to Pt lincoln then up the western side to Elliston or Streaky bay, then back home but its mainly the bit from Portland to Wallaroo that we are looking for ideas for. We have roughly a week to get back from the start of the GOR so we can go a bit out of the way heading back, but I'm only giving myself 4 days max to get from here to Anglesea so I can't vear off too much more that I already have unless you know a better way with a similar time and distance. Plan to do this in the first couple of weeks of november. Cheers Wal.

Wal, When we came back from Tanunda, we travelled to the GOR via, Victor Harbor, crossed by ferry at Wellington then followed the coast through the Coorong (which was an excellent ride) to Robe then onto Port Campbell . Stayed at Mark's Place in Port Campbell which was very comfy.
You might like to think about following the coast from Portland to Wellington then head up to Murray Bridge to Wallaroo.
Is the Wallaroo ferry running again it was shut down for a while?
Cheers Pete

I'd agree with Pete.

If you have the time, go across the ferry at Wellington and spend a day riding around the Fleurieu Peninsula. Victor Harbor, Cape Jervis etc.
Avoid going through Adelaide by taking the back roads through Meadows, Lobethal and Williamstown to the Barossa Valley.

Have a Great ride.

Regards Frank
